Google has announced the expansion of its Gemini AI capabilities to Pixel smartphone users across Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. The update brings advanced AI features to Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series devices, enhancing everything from photography to productivity tools.
The Gemini integration allows users to access Google’s most capable AI model directly on their devices, with support for complex queries, image generation, and real-time assistance. Filipino users can now use Gemini to summarize long documents, generate creative content, and get contextual help based on what’s currently on their screen.
“We’re excited to bring the power of Gemini to more users in Southeast Asia,” said a Google spokesperson. “The Philippines represents an important market for us, and we believe these AI features will help Pixel users be more productive and creative.”
New features exclusive to Pixel devices include “Add Me” in Google Photos, which uses AI to ensure everyone is included in group photos, and “Zoom Enhance” that reconstructs details when zooming into photos. The Pixel Screenshots app now uses AI to make saved screenshots searchable and actionable.
Para sa mga Filipino Pixel users, ang Gemini ay nagbibigay ng kakayahang magtanong sa Filipino language at tumulong sa pag-translate. Pwede mong gamitin ang AI para sumulat ng emails o messages sa Tagalog, at magkaroon ng real-time na tulong sa araw-araw na tasks.
Google has also improved the Call Screen feature for the Philippine market, with better recognition of local accents and contexts. The feature can now handle common local scenarios like delivery confirmations and appointment scheduling with greater accuracy.
The Gemini features are rolling out now via system updates for eligible Pixel devices. Google has confirmed that the Pixel 8a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and the entire Pixel 9 lineup will receive these capabilities. Users can activate Gemini by long-pressing the power button or saying “Hey Google.”
